One of the most important factors in locating a business is the ability to find quality workers. Connecticut has one of the best educated, most productive workforces in the nation. In fact, employee productivity is at an all-time high, with output per worker almost 30% above the national average.

Education
Connecticut's educational institutions, both public and private, provide their students the high quality education necessary to compete into today's business world. From grammar school to doctorate degrees, Connecticut schools are continually ranked near the top in the nation. There are more than 45 colleges and universities in the state, ranging from community colleges offering two-year degrees and job training programs to world-class research institutions turning out highly educated workers and entrepreneurs.
Connecticut's educational leaders know they don't exist in a vacuum, and have become active participants in state and local development initiatives.

- The National Assessment of Educational Progress ranked Connecticut fourth-and eighth-grade students above the national achievement average in math, reading, science and writing
- UConn is ranked the 64th best national university according to U.S. News & World Report in 2008.
- More than $284 million invested in federal obligations for science and engineering at Yale University in 2005, and almost $124 million going to UConn.
